Arts Week, an annual celebration of artistry and creative activity at Indiana University Bloomington and in the surrounding community, will begin Friday (Jan. 24) and continue through Feb. 8.

Arts Week showcases creative writing, dance, visual arts, music, theatre, film, museum exhibits, panel discussions, youth events and lectures. Most events are free and require no tickets. Tickets for other events may be purchased from individual venues.

Arts Week will kick off with a diverse exhibition of faculty artists from IUB's Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts. Opening festivities for the Bloomington Biennial Faculty Exhibition will begin Friday (Jan. 24) at 5 p.m. at the School of Fine Arts Auditorium. IU Interim President Gerald Bepko, Chancellor Sharon Stephens Brehm and City Controller Tom Guevara will attend the welcoming event, which will include a panel discussion of beauty in contemporary art and a preview of the week's festivities.

Later that evening, the IU Auditorium will host the Tony Award-winning hit Fosse, a musical that celebrates the work of the legendary dancer, choreographer and director Bob Fosse.

A special creation of this year's Arts Week is "The Welcome Table: A Midwinter Feast of Song, Dance and Theater," an hour-long extravaganza featuring artists from the university and city (as well as some of Bloomington's best homemade pies!). The event, which is being produced by the IUB Dean of Faculties office, local writer-musician Malcolm Dalglish, and the Lotus Education and Arts Foundation, is scheduled for Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in downtown Bloomington.

Other highlights of Arts Week include:
