Indiana Black Caucus agenda topic for annual Neal-Marshall Lecture

This year's legislative agenda for the Indiana Black Caucus will be the topic for the Neal-Marshall Lecture in Public Policy on Friday (Feb. 21) at 2 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center at Indiana University Bloomington. The 15th annual event will be open to the public free of charge.

Rep. Gregory Porter (D-Indianapolis), chair of the caucus, will present the agenda items. He represents the 96th District, which includes portions of Marion County, and chairs the House Education Committee. He was first elected to the Indiana House in 1992.

Porter's presentation will be followed by a panel dialogue with Porter and a group of IUB black student leaders. Bill Shrewsberry, former deputy mayor of Indianapolis, will be the moderator.

The Neal-Marshall Lecture in Public Policy is presented annually during Black History Month, sponsored by the IU School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) and the Neal-Marshall Alumni Club. The goal of the lecture series is to support IUB's initiative to enhance the participation of African Americans and other minorities in the life of the university.

The series is named after the first African American male and female graduates of IU, Marcellus Neal and Frances Marshall Eagleson.
