BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Eight students from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music will perform a 60-minute concert on May 23 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., for an audience of aspiring young artists and music connoisseurs.

The performance is part of the center's Conservatory Project, a semi-annual event occurring in February and in May, designed to present the best young musical artists in classical music, jazz, musical theater and opera from the nation's leading undergraduate and graduate conservatories, colleges and universities. This will be the fifth year the Jacobs School has participated in the series.

The performance on the stage of the Family Theater is free and open to the public and will be streamed live on the Web at 6 p.m. EST. The concert will be available at: https://www.kennedy-center.org/programs/millennium.

Jacobs School students selected to participate include violinist Yoo-jin Cho, soprano Jung Nan Yoon, pianists Tina Chong and Meeyoun Park, and the Kuttner Quartet, which includes violinists Nathan Giem and Jenna Sherry, violist Nathan Schram and cellist Ting-yun Wen.

The quartet's program includes movements from Beethoven's String Quartet in B-flat Major, Op. 18, and Béla Bartók's String Quartet No. 2, Op. 17. The Kuttner Quartet, which changes members annually, features four of the top string players in the Jacobs School of Music.

Additional works on the program include Chausson's Počme for violin and piano, songs by Geung soo Lim, Puccini and Strauss, and selections from Beethoven's Piano Sonata in F Major, Op. 10, No. 2 and Ravel's Gaspard de la nuit.

The Kennedy Center has archived four previous performances by IU Jacobs School of Music students, which are available on the Web by clicking here.
