BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- For the fourth consecutive year, the Indiana University Alumni Association has received awards from its professional organization, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Region V.
The IUAA earned bronze awards in the annual Pride of CASE V Awards Program for its "Strategic Plan 2008 and Beyond" and "Baccalaureate: An Interfaith Celebration."
The IUAA's Strategic Plan 2008 and Beyond was recognized in the "Best Practices in Alumni Relations" category. This category recognizes exemplary projects that provide solutions to overcoming challenges and serve as benchmarks for other institutions. The IUAA's Strategic Plan 2008 and Beyond offers a blueprint for the Alumni Association to engage staff and volunteers in unprecedented ways to help IU and to support President Michael A. McRobbie's vision for the university.
"Many IUAA staff and volunteers contributed to the creation and publication of the strategic plan," said IUAA President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Martz, "I could not be more pleased with the final product and its impact on our work and the ultimate goal to serve Indiana University's missions."
Baccalaureate: An Interfaith Celebration was recognized in the "Best Diversity Program" category. This ceremony coordinated by the IU Alumni Association takes place annually the Friday before commencement on the IU Bloomington campus. In 2002, Baccalaureate was expanded to include the five major faith traditions represented at IU: Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism.
"By bringing together many different faith traditions, the IU Baccalaureate celebration hopes to bridge tolerance, understanding and pride in our differences," said Rebecca Keith of the IUAA, one of the 12 members of the planning committee for the 2008 Baccalaureate. Martz served as chairman.
Award recipients were notified on Oct. 15 and will receive their awards at the closing luncheon of the 2008 CASE V District Conference on Dec. 16 in Chicago. More information on CASE and the Pride of CASE V Awards program can be found at https://www.casefive.org.
