IU professor receives prestigious Humboldt Research Award
Colin Allen, a professor in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science and the Cognitive Science Program at Indiana University Bloomington, has received a Humboldt Research Award, allowing him to spend much of the next year on research activities in Germany. The award is presented by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, which promotes collaboration between scientists from Germany and other countries. Read the complete story.

Simic honored with lifetime achievement award
Curtis R. Simic, president emeritus of the Indiana University Foundation, has been honored by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) with its Lifetime Achievement Award. IU Trustees approve lean budget for 2010-11
The Indiana University Board of Trustees today approved a 2010-11 budget that calls for increasing spending for day-to-day operations by just $11.6 million, or 0.7 percent. Neil Theobald, vice president and chief financial officer, told trustees this is the lowest percentage increase IU has experienced in several decades in its operational budget, which covers such things as employee salaries and benefits and energy and utility costs. Clarian hospital system to adopt IU name
IBJ.com, The Indianapolis Star, cnbc.com, jconline.com, insideindianabusiness.com, May 5 -- Clarian Health will change its name to Indiana University Health early next year, the Indianapolis-based hospital system announced Wednesday morning.Clarian, which will leave intact the names of its oldest hospitals, is betting the IU name carries more punch around Indiana than its own corporate brand. It also hopes to use the IU name to create a national brand, after the model of the Cleveland Clinic or the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Full story. Full story 2. Full story 3. Marketing experts: Clarian will get boost from IU name
Indianapolis Business Journal, May 5 -- Wednesday's announcement by Clarian Health that it will change its name to Indiana University Health is receiving high marks from some hospital and branding professionals. The Indianapolis-based hospital system, which has 16 hospitals as far afield as LaPorte, Hartford City and Paoli, can now associate with all its facilities the name of the school that trains the majority of doctors and nurses throughout the state.
