WHAT: The 2012 Program on Law and State Government fellows are exploring state government's role in supporting economic development, focusing specifically on laws, policies and government infrastructure that influence advanced manufacturing and small businesses.

Jordan, Distinguished Professor in the Danforth Center on Religion and Politics at Washington University in St. Louis, challenges the simple story about how and why queer youth reject religion. Through a close analysis of life narratives, Jordan reveals how the widespread shift from religion to spirituality -- especially among young people -- has created new opportunities for self-identified queers to move beyond a critique of religion's oppressive power to claim spirituality for themselves.

Probing synaptic and circuitry mechanisms of psychiatric disorders

WHAT: Guoping Feng of Massachusetts Institute of Technology discusses recent human genetic and genomic studies that have identified a large number of candidate genes for obsessive-compulsive disorder, autism spectrum disorders and schizophrenia, many of which encode postsynaptic scaffolding proteins including MAGUK, SAPAP and SHANK families of proteins.

Control of animal behavior and decision making through TRP channels
