Media advisory: 10th annual Cardboard Boat Regatta at IU on Friday in Bloomington
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sept. 22, 2010
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Floating lunacy in the form of creative cardboard boats skippered by Indiana University students, deans, community members and others will once again entertain crowds during the 10th annual Cardboard Boat Regatta on Friday (Sept. 24) at the IU Outdoor Pool in Bloomington.
The free event is open to the public. The Dean's Challenge once again will pit IU administrators against each other as they navigate the 50-meter lanes of the IU Outdoor Pool, located at the corner of Fee Lane and 17th Street in Bloomington. Reigning champion Robert M. Goodman, dean of the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, will attempt a repeat of last year's victory.
Awards will be given to the fastest teams and most creative boat. The event, sponsored by the School of HPER's Council for Advancing Student Leadership, is organized to raise money for student scholarships.
Parking is available off of fee lane on the west side of the street and north of the field house in upper parking lot 12.
For more information, contact Deborah Getz at 812-856-2275 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The event is supported by the IUSA Funding Board, the IU Outdoor Pool, the Center for Student Leadership Development, B-town Menus, Moe's Southwest Grill, Domino's Pizza, Pizza-X, Buffa Louies, and Underground Printing.
