Ethics Bowl Students Win Awards

Three members of the 2010-11 Ethics Bowl team won awards this spring from the College of Arts and Sciences.

Laura Goins

Laura Goins, a senior majoring in Mathematics and Philosophy, was one of five seniors who received an Elvis J. Stahr Award. She also received the Philosophy Department's Academic Excellence Award. This year was Laura's second year on an Ethics Bowl team. She was on the 2008-09 Ethics Bowl team which won the national Ethics Bowl title. Laura has accepted a position at McKinsey and Company Consulting in their Chicago office after graduation.

Kyle Fletcher, a junior majoring in Philosophy and Economics, was one of two recipients of the Palmer-Brandon Prize in the Humanities. He also received the Provost's Award for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity. Kyle was on the Ethics Bowl team the last two years, going to the national competition in 2009-10 and placing in the regionals in 2010-11.

Olufemi Taiwo, a junior majoring in Political Science, Economics, and Philosophy, was one of five recipients of the College of Arts and Sciences/Campus Writing Program Intensive Writing Essay Prize. Femi also has been on the Ethics Bowl team the last two years, going to the national competition in 2009-10 and placing in the regionals in 2010-11.
