The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker

Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music Ballet Theater Department recently presented the 52nd annual production of The Nutcracker. IU Professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Ballet Michael Vernon created the scenario after Marius Petipa's adaptation of the story, "Nutcracker and the King of the Mice" by E. T. A. Hoffmann.

The Nutcracker tells the story of young Clara, who receives a toy soldier nutcracker from her mysterious godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer. When she falls asleep with the nutcracker in her arms and starts to dream, magical things begin to happen.
